Patricia Hudson

A locally renowned musician and educator, Patricia Hudson is the director of Step Into Music.  She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Nevada in 1998, graduating with distinction.  Patricia taught band and choir at Mendive Middle School in Sparks Nevada for over 5 years where her ensembles were known as the region's best.  Patti is a licensed Musikgarten teacher, a member of Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, performs with the Reno Wind Symphony, and is a Nevada Air National Guard Key Spouse Volunteer.  Patti's classes prove daily that learning and actively participating in music builds the whole child.  Passing on what was provided to her at a young age, both of Patti's children are flourishing in Step Into Music's programs.  Patti lives with her husband, Todd Hudson and her two beautiful daughters Emily and Lexi.

Music For Little Mozarts Teacher

Sharon is currently a member of the UNR Music Faculty where she teaches Applied Percussion, Music Appreciation, World Music and Music Theory. She performs regularly as a percussionist with the Reno Philharmonic, Reno Chamber Orchestra and many other area ensembles. She is a member of Discover Percussion, a percussion trio that provides outreach programs on percussion for the Reno Philharmonic.Sharon received her M.M. from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and her B.M. from the University of Southern California. She was the principal timpanist with the Midland-Odessa Symphony for ten years and has played with numerous orchestra across the United States and in New Zealand. She has also played for many Musicals including the Broadway Touring production of The Full Monty. She has four sons who all play at least two instruments: Daniel, Isaac, Jonathan and Nathan.

Amy Barthel began teaching with Step Into Music in 2002 while attending the University of Nevada Reno. While at UNR Amy earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She taught general music for Washoe County School District for 4 years. Amy has been a home child care provider since 2007 making it possible to be at home with her 2 children Aubrie and Andrew. She maintains a small, private flute studio. She is the president of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association, the vice president of the Northern Nevada Child Care Association, a member of the National Association for Family Child Care, a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and a member of the UNR family childcare Network. Amy is married to Daniel Barthel who is also a local music educator. Amy's favorite part of teaching young children is being a part of their physical, emotional, and musical growth.
